OOPS!!! MY BAD!!!

Once again I’m delayed!

So where to begin!!! We left off last time with Ellie at 10 Months. Well so much has happened! Ellie has not only turned 11 months but she is now 1!!! Can you believe it? We have a one year old! Where did the time go? I still remember the day she was born like yesterday.

Ellie has learned so many new things. My personal favorite is her Sumo walk. She is so funny. She takes these HUGE steps that look just like a sumo wrestler getting ready to fight. I’ve been trying to catch it on camera, but have yet to be successful. But if you ever see her and she is in the right mood all you have to do is say SSSUUUMMMOOO WWWRRREEESSTTTLLLEEERRR and she starts walking like it. Way to funny.

We celebrated Ellies first birthday with a Princess party. I am going to do a little mom bragging that I made her crown cake and it turned out awesome!! I’m still on cloud nine for that one! See the picture below... you would be proud to if you were someone like me who doesn’t bake. LOL.
Ellie had such a blast at her party that when I put her down for the night she was out cold. We were lighting off fireworks and she didn’t even flinch on bit from the noise. And let me tell you we don’t just do the little fireworks we (well my husband) does the big booms! It was awesome!
Ellie also went to the Waupaca County fair and touch all sorts of animals. She LOVED the piggies. She touched their noses and laughed so hard. I think she gets that from her Auntie Dar.
Speaking of piggy’s Elna now has enough hair to do pigtails! Yes that’s right folks my kid is super cute with the piggies. Even cuter when you take the piggy’s out and she has crazy Ellie Monster hair.

Some of you may also know that Elna had surgery the Friday before Labor Day. Nothing to serious. It was an outpatient procedure. Since Ellie was 4 days old we noticed that she was getting discharge from her eyes and they were very red. It would come and go about every two weeks or so. Eric and I figured out that since Elna was born we went to the Doctor on average 2-3 times a month for her eyes which they diagnosed as Clogged Tear ducts. They refused to do surgery until she was at least one. So as our luck would have it her eyes never got better and right before her first birthday they got worse and start to cause an infection called Cellulites. Which is an infection between you first layer of skin and flesh. Now as a mother I was ready to rip some Doctors apart for not wanting to fix this right away. But after the infection the specialist finally gave us the ok to do the surgery. So we went to Children’s Hospital of WI in Milwaukee and at 7:30 am they took her back and by 9:30 am we were back on the road to go home. Elna did great! You would have never guessed that she had surgery. Since the surgery Ellies eyes have been doing great so it seems that thus far the procedure work and we should not have any other issues.
Ok enough of the scary stuff. I’m so excited for this year’s Halloween. Ellie is going to be a duck and is super cute in her costume. I will be sure to post pictures of that!

Kit is still here to. She has finally warmed up to Elna a little bit more, but still is not cool with Elna chasing her through the house. But Kit likes her space so in time I’m sure she will become more used to Ellie and Ellie will become more used to Kit and not chase her so much.
Well that about covers our quick update for this go around. I thought the pictures could tell more of a story then what I could. I will make a better effort at blogging so we don’t have so many months in between.

Lots of love to all!
The Burts

FINALLY!!!

HOLY COW am I behind! SO by popular demand I am now finally updating the blog.

Where to begin? SO much has happened that I will try to catch everything, but I apologize that it will not be in chronological order.
Ellie now has 5 teeth! She has been a real trooper with it all too. She got her two bottom teeth and then her to right middle and right eye tooth followed by her left middle top tooth. She is working on her other eye tooth as we speak and you would never notice. She is awesome!

Ellie has gone from crawling like a mad woman to pulling herself up on things to walking along things, to now letting go and walking a few steps here and there. For a little bit we really thought that she would take off on the walking thing, but she has realized that she can get to places a lot faster by crawling so the walking thing has kind of been put on the back burner. This is totally cool with us, because it keeps her our little baby just a little bit more.
Elna has also mastered waving bye-bye, however we are trying to teach her to wave hello and she thinks we are nuts. She is totally hooked on the "bye-bye" and not the "hi-hi". But in time we know it will come. She now knows who mamma is when asked and who kitten is. So she is getting it all very quickly.

Elna and cousin Alana (Easter)

So pretty in my dress! (Easter)

Let move on to another milestone. Called the “Da Da” milestone. This milestone may also be known to others as my best friend milestone. Ellie loves Eric so much that every time the phone rings she starts yelling “Da Da”. It’s very cute especially when she is in the car and she thinks I’m talking to Eric and I hear a big “HI DA DA!” in the back seat. Yes Ellie knows how to talk a little. She has mastered Hi, dada, mamma, and titten (which is Kitten). She also has mastered the attitude that goes with it. One night we were trying to get ready for bed and Ellie decided that it was time to play. In her closet we have a couple toys that she’s still a little too young for, however when she gets the chance she likes to go in there and explore. So as she was playing I was sitting on the floor say Elna, which was followed by a Mamma, then another EEElllnnnnaaa followed by a MMMAAA”MMMAAA. She mimicked every Elna I threw at her. If I said her name fast she said mama fast. It was really cute and I tried so hard not to laugh because I didn’t want her to think it was a game. However I was out played by a 10 month old. She won that one.
With all her milestones probably the most shocking was the stairs. One day we were playing hard in the living room and Kit was around and Ellie decided that it was a good idea to chase Kit like she always does. Kit b-lined it up the stairs and I wasn’t too concerned because Elna didn’t know how to climb stairs, or at least we didn’t think she did. I casually made my way over there which was about 30 seconds after she went and the next thing I saw was Kit at the top of the stairs and Ellie on the 3rd step! I was so excited and scared at the same time I had no idea what to do. I cheered and tried to discipline, but yet again round 2 when to Elna.
Also since our last blog Ewe celebrated Elna’s first Easter. OMG was that fun!! She had so much fun playing with all her cousins. We did an eater egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa Burts and Ellie had a blast with the eggs. She thought they were the coolest thing ever! We were so lucky that she was able to hang out with all our family. We are so blessed to have great family get together were Ellie gets to play with all her cool cousins.

Like you don't think I'm cute??

Me and G-ma Koch in our cool shades!

Elna's first time in her swing.

We also were able to celebrate Ellies boyfriend Noah’s first birthday. (Yes Brandy you made it on the blog again! LOL) Ellie and him are so cute together! You may remember a few blogs back that I mentioned that we went to the Tundra Lodge with our friends that we met in Lamaze. We had a blast hanging out with them! Ellie like to hang out with Noah to especially cause he has some sweet toys that she doesn’t. I can’t wait to see both of them grow together. Since they are so close in age it’s amazing how they hit the same milestones together. We also have the same struggle together to. It’s great having someone else to lean on when you are just at your wits end.

Well I’m going to wrap it up because soon we will be reporting that Elna has turned one!! I can’t believe it’s been a year already! This time last year I was thinking is this baby ever going to come out!!! Freaky how fast the time flies!

Hugs to all!

7 & 8 Months OMG!!!

Hello Again!

Can you believe that it’s been two months since the last blog it feels like just yesterday that I posted?

Well where to begin…

Since we last blogged Elna has been in swim lessons and she LOVE’s every minute of it. She absolutely loves the water!!! Usually when we get her out of the tub she cries bloody murder because she wants to get back in and splash all around. She has learned how to blow bubbles in the water which is really cool to watch however she thinks that blowing bubbles is so cool that she should do it when she eats so we end up getting food all over the place!

Next Ellie is fully sitting by herself and I think she will be crawling soon. She leans to one side and every day she gets closer to getting on all fours and holding that little hinder in the air. It’s so cute to watch her get ready to become mobile. Kit however I think knows what is coming and is a little nervous because she has been watch Elna a little bit closer lately.

Like every year that valentines rolls around so does Sturgeon Spearing and I go without a hubby for a while. Yes opening day I’m in the shake with him but after that he’s on his own. This year we didn’t spear any for our household but Eric’s dad and good friend Scott got one so two out of our group is pretty good. Eric is really bummed that he not only didn’t get one but actually missed one. There were two solid days of Eric only saying “I can’t believe I missed!” over and over again.

The other day our friends Brandy and Eric asked us to go to the Tundra Lodge with them and their little guy (Ellie's BFF) Noah. It was a lot of fun! Ellie just loves the water I however have realized that the baby weight fairy still has not come to take my lbs. away. I think I should draw him a map to my house just in case he lost his way. It was really cute to see Noah and Ellie explore the water and all the other fascinations that were at the lodge.

Well not much to post again… we are kind of boring. But to make up for low amount of stories I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Hug to all,
The Burts

6 Months and.....

Hello Again,

Ok so I’m very proud of this blog. I am actually getting it done before Elna’s 7 month birthday! Go me!!!
So where did we leave off? Well Since we last blogged Ellie celebrated her first Christmas, her 6 month Birthday, two teeth, first ear infection, and the Pack going to the super bowl! So lots of great things!
I can’t believe that Ellie is almost 7 months old! She has moved into solids and into sleeping like a champ! We got one night of her sleeping from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am. But like I thought that was a total fluke. However she is down to only waking up once a night. Which I will take!
Ellie had a great first Christmas! She was so fun to watch as she opened presents the only down side is that she had more fun eating the paper then seeing the present. But still cute as can be!

To let you know how great of a kid we have Ellie got two teeth and we didn’t even know she was getting them until they were already here. She wasn’t cranky or fussy at all. We were a little perplexed since all we ever heard about babies getting teeth was that it would be miserable because your baby is going to be horrible. However Ellie surpasses any stereotype for an infant and breezed through it like a champ. So high fives to Ellie! Wahoo!
Leading off of the teeth conversation with the teeth Ellie got a mild ear infection. I don’t care what anyone says but I totally believe that the ear infection came from her getting her teeth. But with some mild antibiotics she got over it quickly and was once again a champ.
So now on to the big news THE PACK IS GOING TO THE SHOW!!! Let me tell you Ellie was so excited that she passed right out during the game! LOL. Uncle Chris and soon to be Aunt Kari came down for the game and hung out. Ellie is still trying to figure her Uncle Chris. She had a tendency to get a little teary eyed when he would talk to her, hold her, or pretty much even look at her. However I’m sure over time that will get better.

So not much has really happened in our home to that sums it up for this blog. But there are always things going on so stay tuned! Next we will be talking about the Packers and their new accessory!

Lots of hugs to all,
Eric, Monica, Elna, & Kit

4 & 5 and soon to be 6

Hello Again,

O my once again I am totally slacking on the bog updates. At least I have a good reason.
To start out since our last blog Eric’s sister welcomed her baby boy into the world on 10-10-10. He’s such a cutie! Contrary to what his father John says he has red hair like his mom and is just a ball of love. When you put Ellie next to him she looks like a massive giant. I can’t believe how much they grow in such a short period of time. Every time I hold Weston I say “I don’t remember Ellie being this small”.

Ellie celebrated her first Halloween. This was somewhat of a success. She dressed up all cute got candy and I got to eat it. In my world total success, in diet world a total failure. Ellie was supposed to be a cow for Halloween but that kind of was a flop. Before she was ever born I found a cute Dalmatian bunting costume for $0.50 (yes that’s right 50 cents folks). My intention was to turn the dog costume into a cow; this was a big failure on my part. All of a sudden it was Halloween and time totally flew by. So my poor attempt to make her a cow was not at all succeeding when we went to Spooktacular at Player Choice of Appleton. Everyone kept calling her a dog so Ellie had a costume that went form a dog to a cow and back to a dog. But whatever my kid still looked cuter then bunny!
Mom and Ellie at Spooktacular
Sugar coma
Since the last time we blogged Ellie had her four month birthday and he five month birthday. With her four month birthday came her four month checkup which means... yup you got it SHOTS! But no worry for my kid she’s awesome! She cries a little when they go in and that’s it! By the time the needle is out she’s done crying. I don’t know where she gets that from but I can tell you it’s not from me. At 26 I still cry when I see the needle. To give you all a mental image of how big Ellie is she is in the 100th percentile for Height and head circumference and 75th percentile for weight. For those of you who have no idea what that means, it means she is very tall for her age but at skinny as a bean. So I’m sure when she gets older she will get the same nickname that Eric and I had of being called string bean.
Ellie is growing so much that we have had a lot of milestones lately. The popasan swing that she has been using since birth and most of the pictures that you have seen her sleeping in have been in that swing has now been put away. She already outgrew it. I’m not going to lie there was a little bit of tears that I had to fight back as I put it away. Some tears that she is growing so fast and some tears at the thought of how in the heck are we going to get her to take naps now? However with putting away the big swing we now have brought out an exersaucer and a jumperoo. Both of which Ellie loves!
Playing like a big girl
We also had Eric’s niece Kelsey’s 8 birthday! Now that one I can’t believe! She was 4 when I met her and now she’s only a few years away from being a pre-teen! It’s crazy to think about how much she’s grown and how wonderful of a young lady she is becoming. I don’t know if I’m ready for her to grow up just yet.

Ooooookkkkkkaaaaayyyyy I know you all have been reading this and are wondering what the big top secret news is….. And sorry to disappoint some of you but no I am not pregnant. There will be no baby two for a while we hope. The news is that I got a new job. I had accepted the offer but was not able to say anything until my notice was given at Convergys. So after 5 years at Convergys Corp. I resigned and am now working at Heartland Business Systems. I really really am enjoying it. The people are great and I love the freedom. It so far has been a great move for not only me but our family. So once again sorry to those of you who wanted baby 2 but not today.
I love being naked!

Stay tuned for our next blog that I hope I stay on top of. We get to celebrate Christmas!!!!

Hugs to all and happy holidays!

3 Months and Growing!

Hello Again,

Wow can you believe that Ellie is now 3 months old, Eric and I have been married a year, Eric is now 30 and I will be turning 26 on Monday! I think I can say for where did the time go?

Since I last blogged we have had a couple of milestones in our house. I went back to work in September and didn’t think it would be too hard because I currently work from home. But it was still a huge adjustment. I still miss playing with her and enjoying time with her. Whoever thought that I would actually miss changing the first morning poopy diaper? LOL! Ellie is enrolled at YMCA Child Learning Center and its great! Her teachers are awesome! I know that she is being taken care of the same way I would take care of her.

On my brothers 29th birthday (September 23) Ellie laughed for the first time. I was on the phone with my fantastic friend Lisa W. when Ellie started to laugh. I was so excited I cried with pure joy and I think I may have freaked Lisa out a little because I was screaming with excitement. After I got off the phone with her I immediately called Eric to have him listen to it and then since I’m such a proud mamma I called everyone else I could think of. The only person that was able to hear it beside Eric and I was my brother Chris. Which was fitting since it was his birthday. I think it brightened his day a little.

After that exciting day we have really started to see Ellie grow. She can put her hands together, switch toys from one hand to another, roll on her side and show us true love with her smile. I can’t believe how much of a personality she is getting already.

Ellie is now three months old and I do not feel like it’s been three months. I was looking at a picture from the beginning of September and thought there is now way that she was that small only 4 weeks ago. She looks so different already!
One year and still going strong

Flowers from Eric. These are the same flowers that I had in my boquet on my wedding day.

Eric and I celebrate 365 days of wedded bliss on Sunday. Talk about where did the time go. We were looking back at the past year and we can’t believe all that has happened. We remodeled the house, went to Vegas, said goodbye to my best furry friend Gini, and o yeah had a baby. We still are as happy as we were on the day we got married. We truly know now that we can get through anything and will always be there for each other.

Ellies First Pumpkin

Grandma & Grandpa with Ellie and all the pumpkins

We spent the weekend in Door County. On Saturday Grandma and Grandpa Bucky were nice enough to watch Ellie while Eric and I drove up to the island. We wanted to take the fairy across, but the boat was rocking side to side so much that it made me sick just looking at it. It was really cold, rainy, and windy up there so we didn’t get out of the car much. We also were able to take Ellie to get her first pumpkin on Sunday. Grandma and Grandpa had a good time picking one out for Ellie.

Eric turned 30 on Monday. He says it’s no big deal, but I think he secretly is in denial that he’s getting older. He no longer can say I’m in my roaring 20’s. I know that when I turn thirty I will have a little bit of a meltdown I’m sure. I already am freaking out that as of next Monday (10-11-10) I will only have 4 more years left of my 20’s. Freaky!

Well I think that pretty much closes up our month since our last post. In the next month we have exciting things to look forward to. Ellie celebrates 4 months, Eric’s sister Ashley will be having her baby, Ellie celebrates Halloween, and I will have news to share that is top secret!

Lots of hugs to all,
Eric, Monica, Kit & Ellie

Who knew...

Hello Again,

Holy cow people! Can you believe that it has been almost 2 months since my last post! Who ever thought that having a baby would consume all of my time. LOL!

We have had so much happen in the past 2 months. Let me start from where I left off.

My sister’s son Louis turned three and we went to Minnesota to celebrate his third birthday in August. Yes we decided to do the normally four hour and fifteen minuet drive to Minnesota in 5 hours and 30 minuets. We quickly learned that when you do a trip with a 1 month old you leave on their schedule not yours. We made it to Seymour (about 18 miles from our house) and Ellie decided that riding in the car was not going to be her bag of tea that day. So it was a very long trip to Minnesota. Once we got there we had so much fun. My sister and her husband had just moved into a new house so we tried the best we could to help them get ready for Louis’s big birthday party. It was so much fun! I can’t believe that he is three.
Louis at 3
Next we celebrated Ellie’s Baptism and two month birthday. I was so excited to have Ellie baptized and become a member of God’s wonderful kingdom. The day of her baptism was the first day that Ellie smiled in response. It was as if she new that, that day was her special day. She did amazing! Eric, Pastor Walt, Ellie, and Monica
Ellie at 2 months
Labor Day weekend we also were blessed to celebrate the marriage of our good friends Josh and Julie Burmeister. They had such a wonderful day. The sun was shinning and everything went off perfectly. Julie looked so beautiful in her dress! It was our first wedding since Eric and I got married and it really brought back some wonderful memories. Eric while in his tux definitely made it known that he was a new daddy and loved showing off his little girl. Uncle Dennis (Ellie's Godfather) also loved showing Ellie off. The minuet he saw her he was kissing her up. Eric and Ellie all dressed for the wedding

After the wedding we went to Madison to watch the Badgers play San Jose with my parents. Ellie was lucky to spend the whole day with her Aunt Ashley and Uncle John. We are so lucky to have relatives that live close to Madison that we are able to take Ellie with us while we hang out in Bucky territory.
Eric and I at the game

Ellie Also got to go to a couple of her first football games to see my very great friend Lisa’s son Joey play on the Kimberly JV football team. It is crazy to see Joey so grown up and playing football. He’s really good too. Ellie loves the games. There is always so much for her to see.

Ellie and Joey

As you can see we have had a very busy two months! In the next month we are plenty busy again. Eric and I celebrate our first anniversary. I go back to work after a nice 11 weeks off. Ellie starts daycare. Eric turns 30 I turn 26 and so much more. I will post again soon so stay tuned!

Lots of love,
The Burts
